but we loved being away, too. It was such an amazing summer with two trips up to New England and Canada, and I am eagerly making plans to return.
In the meantime, it’s great to finally be home in Brooklyn for a stretch and I have big aspirations to write some tunes, play some guitar, and maybe even tackle the pile of random papers on my desk. An early fall subway trip to Coney Island might happen too.
On Saturday September 27th, my trio will perform a free outdoor set at 3 pm in Garden City to help kick off the Arts Alive LI festival. Bring the kids! We’re bringing ours..
On a different note, there is much good news among the bad things that the TV likes to highlight. I was honored to be invited to sing my tunes “Feed Your Baby” and “Gospel” at the start of the People’s Climate March in NYC this past Sunday, and I was amazed at the size, diversity, and joyfulness of the 300,000+ people assembled. The beginning is near.
So many stories to tell. We remember my dad Harry as a storyteller in song, but his legacy lives on also through the work of WhyHunger, which tells the story of hunger and amplifies the voices of the grassroots efforts to counter it. Check out some of the good news here at our “Community Voices” digital storytelling site. and support our work by joining “Harry’s Giving Circle” of friends and fans who want to make a difference.
